Re-elect Community champion Mike Sole
Mike Sole was elected as Kent County Councillor for Canterbury South in 2021 and since then has shown himself to be a real community champion, working hard for our area.
“It has been a joy to work with sixteen parish councils and many community groups in their efforts to improve the lives of local people. Over the last four years this has included securing numerous grants to provide a range of equipment for sports clubs and community groups, and many practical steps to improve road safety”.
“I have successfully campaigned to save bus services and continue to press Stagecoach on service levels as our rural bus network is so important. I fought to get the three-month long closure of the A257 scrapped, and continue to campaign for changes to the planned Wincheap Gyratory Scheme.
“With my little assistant, Phil de Pothole, I have highlighted the state of our roads and personally sought out and reported many hundreds of issues every year.
“Two years ago we faced the prospect of a huge new town in Adisham and Canterbury being carved up into traffic zones. I fought these Conservative plans and they are no longer in the Local Plan.
“We live in uncertain times, which makes it even more important to elect a councillor who you know will work with energy and enthusiasm for your community. I have achieved much in the last four years, but there is more to do, and with budgets getting tighter, I am determined that we continue to improve the areas that we live in.”
“With your support I can continue work to protect our countryside, push for improved public transport, safer roads and assist residents with social care issues. I have held councillor surgeries, keep in touch through leaflets, social media and attending parish council meetings and community events. These help me understand what is important to people so that I might have the opportunity to help.”
